The Saints are, despite that, a good team in bursts. The Saints defense can be surprising, well-disguised, attacking, and it can get turnovers. The Saints offense can keep defenses off-balance, moving the ball confidently and capably. How long these bursts are and when in a game they occur seems to be out of the Saints’ control, but it’s possible that as the season advances, the players in Saints x Hello Kitty NFL Fan Football Hoodie will get better. So I’m not totally bummed. Injuries suck. The Saints aren’t deep enough to cover the range of injuries they incurred, and this was their first game after the bye. Saints! Got bad history with Steelers. A great franchise but they beat up on my favorite teams in my early youth. Grew up in Balto and during the Colts era of the 60s Steelers were bad. The most New Orleans Saints thing ever was the return from the damage done by Hurricane Katrina, and the joyous celebration that came with it. Specifically, the first game back, but in essence, that entire season. In 2005, Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast. Over 1,100 people lost their lives. The city of New Orleans and every community east to the Mississippi/Alabama state line was devastated by this behemoth storm. The Superdome was a shelter of last refuge. It was ripped apart by the storm and rendered unusable for the 2005 season. The Saints were NFL nomads, playing their first “home” game in New York against the Giants. Their remaining home schedule was split between LSU’s Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge (80+ miles away), and the Alamodome in San Antonio. They had no home facilities. They had no home. They finished 3–13. New Orleans is the home of the jazz funeral. It begins with slow dirges, as we lay to rest the body of the deceased. After that, we rejoice and celebrate the life of the deceased. The music changes and everyone gets happy. There is dancing and singing and joy. So went the Saints. After the dirge of the 2005 season, while burying our loved ones and paying respects, we came out in 2006 with a new attitude. The Dome was repaired. We had a new coach and a new QB leading the Second Line – folks who didn’t know New Orleans and what we were all about; but they soon found out…. 3 games into the 2006 season we hosted our first home game, against our most hated rivals, the Atlanta Falcons, on Monday Night Football. People pulled out their Saints x Hello Kitty NFL Fan Football Hoodie for the celebration to come. This game was the actual beginning of the celebration. I hesitate to say never and no way often, but there is NO WAY Atlanta could have overcome on THAT particular night.
