The Browns are Browns-ing. Here is what is miserable – they still can use him. Seriously, he’s still the best QB on that roster. My opinion – they are just about a month away from the end of the season. He’s not likely to play this year. He’s going through individual drills as of now. Maybe in a week or so he does some scout team work. They will need to decide whether to activate him to the 53 man roster before the 21 days are up. In 21 days, it will be Christmas. The Browns will have 2 games left on the schedule. The only reason to put Watson on the field is to try and give him some trade value. But even then, he’s still owed a huge chunk of money next season. He’s owed starter money and no team would bring him in to be their starter today. You might let him compete for the job if you’re the Raiders, or the Vikings, or Jets, or Pittsburgh, if you can get through the stench of his past. Anyway, the only reason to activate him is to back up Sanders. At this point you’re riding with Sanders to see what his prospects are. You don’t need to see Watson. After this season, the Browns will release him, likely with a June 1 designation. They’re still going to take at least one more major salary cap hit ($80.7 million in 2026, and the remainder of the guaranteed $131 million in 2027) and they are going to have to pay him $46 million, but they can be done with this huge error. At this moment, I think there is no plan to put him on the field. Never say never, but it’s not likely. They want to see what the rookies can do before they go ahead and draft the next QB—by my count, any new QB drafted would be the 46th name to appear on official Pittsburgh Steelers x Scooby Doo Official 3D Shirt for a Browns starter since their return to the NFL in 1999.
