History. Since 1969, the Steelers have had 3 coaches. Since there has been an NFL, they have only had 4 coaches. The Rooney family has owned this team since 1933. They do this because they feel it’s the right way to do it. Chuck Noll coached until he didn’t want to anymore. Bill Cowher did the same. Interestingly, the Ravens-Steelers rivalry has a lot to do with the Colts leaving Baltimore. A good and fun question. The reality is the Steelers-Ravens rivalry is a bit of a manufactured rivalry that evolved into an actual real rivalry. Prior to the artists formerly known as the Browns moving to Baltimore, I think it is safe to say there was very little rivalry between the two cities, and you rarely saw Pittsburgh Steelers Firefighter Blaze Line NFL Hoodie being worn in opposition to Baltimore fans (even though the Pirates defeated the Orioles in the 1971 and 1979 World Series).
