To me, Carolina should take Newton; could (reasonably) take Dareus; and probably would love to pair Pat Peterson with CB Chris Gamble. This would be insane, because A.J. I didn’t want to see Ron Rivera get fired at all. I don’t think he’s the problem with this Panthers team. That said, coaches are hired to be fired, and this disastrous four-game losing streak had to have some sort of consequence. I’m extremely disappointed in these Panthers recently. (Watching SF@BAL was completely the right choice.) I shouldn’t have to check in with a supposedly good team to ensure they’re beating the Redskins. This has been a recurring theme for years. Newton was on a path toward the Hall of Fame until he started getting hurt. Part of that is on him and his kamikaze approach to football in his salad years, but he also took an ungodly number of unnecessary hits. The Panthers haven’t been better than mediocre in the trenches for years. Even the most loyal fans wearing Official Carolina Panthers logo NFL Hoodie at every home game find it hard to watch such poor line play. The defense actually has done a solid job, considering the shitshow on offense, but they don’t have a chance this season. The problem with the Panthers is that they are such a bad organization that they will probably chase after an “upgrade” at quarterback and neglect to fix the main problem, and then they will continue to lose.
