Now we know that Casitas won’t save us, but free WiFi will! Good. This team has been downright awful for far too long and the local media rarely goes against what the team says. I got the impression Monti was getting annoyed about the roster questions when he’s probably spent multiple draft picks and FA money on key areas only for the coaching to limit that impact. Damn, if only he had some control over which coaches to hire. He probably thought he had the right HC in place based on the first two years and then he backed him heavily in the last off season. Then Gannon proceeded to fall off a cliff. It’s been 3 years and not a single player he’s drafted has any postseason accolades. He’s been below average if we’re being generous and the mistake he made in MHJ is one that’ll haunt this franchise for a long time. And that’s without even bringing up DRob who has been one of the worst DL in the entire league. He kicked the QB can down the road continuously and now we are boned with zero realistic options in the draft outside of a highly speculative reach. The OL is replacement level at every position but LT. He continually fails to stabilize the DL. It’s been really ugly but Bidwill gives one of the longest GM leashes in the NFL. Monti’s a dead man walking unless he pulls of a literal miracle this year. What exactly was Monti going to do at the QB position when Kyler’s fat ass extension was already signed a year prior to his hiring and guaranteed he was going to be their guy for 3+ seasons with all that guaranteed money? He signed the best backup in the league and damn near 100% of midround qb fliers turn into fuck all. No one was trading for Kyler on that contract and especially not after he tore his ACL, no clue how he’s supposed to find a new franchise qb while being stuck with K1 as ‘their guy’. I would definitely lay more blame on coaching since JG got way more talent added to the defense and somehow they jumped head first off a fucking cliff after managing to be the 15th ranked D in the league the previous season. They could have brought in Brissett earlier than this year. They could have self-evaluated that Colt McCoy literally could not play in 2023 and found their starting QB for that year before September. They could have properly evaluated guys like Kyler and Tune internally and noted that they needed to upgrade at backup QB with a guy who could potentially compete for the starting job if needed. There’s a lot more you can do at the QB position besides bring in a new day 1 starter. Jimmy G and Jacoby Brissett were guys the Patriots drafted on day 2 of the draft in the middle of Tom Brady’s reign. There were opportunities to bring in guys like Darnold (who went to be a backup in SF before his recent resurgence) or trade for Daniel Jones. Monti’s simply not been aggressive at all with respect to churning and improving the most important position in football.

Monti has never really done much in his career. He was with the patriots during a period where they didn’t draft particularly well. The titans fell apart after his second year there. I don’t see his NFL Arizona Cardinals Patrick Peterson Player Game Match Fan Football Hoodie lasting long. And yet people wonder why I want Monti fired, too. The opening question of “why JG and not Monti?” was glorious. In accordance with your instructions, here is an essay-style compilation of the comments from the specified thread. ()I don’t like Simpson at all and think he’s an easy bust candidate, but I’ve been wrong before. EDGE and OT both seem like weak positions in this draft and could be a reach to take them at #5 which could mean a move back scenario once again. I know some want Tyson, especially after we didn’t go after Skatt last year, but investing another top 5 pick in a WR after Michael Wilson showed out is silly to me. MHJ needs a mental offseason chance to get right, way too early to call him a bust and move off of him. Best case two pick worst case 7 cool. We sign Mac jones or Zach Wilson. In draft stay at 5 if no brainer (tackle or corner) if not trade back. Sign a couple more mid free agents at obvious weak spots.
