I was never under the impression that they should have hired him in the first place. We fired the best coach the franchise ever had prior to hiring O’Brien. Although we had some success in our division under O’Brien, no one ever mistook us for a real contender. The AFC South has been one of the weakest divisions in the NFL since the last realignment. And for a coach who is touted as an offensive mastermind, no QB that we had under O’Brien could seem to move the offense very well. And we went thru a lot of QB’s under O’Brien. It wasn’t until we drafted Watson and his scrambling abilities that the offense seemed to move. Watson also could take a lot of hits. It is no secret that the team’s protection was poor, yet O’Brien would still call plays that take many seconds to develop while players were drenched in sweat under their Houston Texans Bull Ridin’ Fan NFL Football Team Hoodie. I didn’t understand it and I’m no offensive genius. And then the Texans hand over General Manager duties to O’Brien which was a bit of a head scratcher for me and most fans too.
