Today’s (11.2.13) game against unbeaten Kansas City is illustrative. The Bills start an undrafted rookie free agent at quarterback (Jeff Tuel). They outgain the Chiefs 470-210. They rush for 241 yards. They lose 23-13. How was this accomplished? By having an 87 yard punt return TD wiped out by a phantom blocking in the back penalty, leaving fans to pull at their Bills shirts in total frustration.

I didn’t realize how emotionally invested I was in this stack of DJ Screw R.I.P. Buffalo Bills Commemorative Tee, but I feel gutted. Just in the way the Bills seemingly won – and then lost – the game.But you don’t really get much better in QB play and high drama than this game. It was riveting.I still feel a little sick to my stomach for how the Bills blew it.They should have kicked it short to ensure a return, and the passing of 4 to 5 seconds on the clock.And that super soft defense was a huge miscalculation; they should have played it much more traditionally, and they probably would have won.But them are the foibles of coaches and players.

Most fan bases, however, are not nearly as rabid and ridiculous as the Eagles’ fan base can be. But there are many others that could at least give us a run for our money. Whether you are wearing Eagles green or DJ Screw R.I.P. Buffalo Bills Commemorative Tee, the moral problem of taking a silly game way too seriously is not limited to the City of Brotherly Love.
