I don’t think the price to get Russell was excessive. The Broncos gave the Seahawks multiple high draft picks, but they’ve gotten some good players in the draft’s later rounds, so surrendering first and second round draft picks isn’t that big a deal. In this year’s draft class, there aren’t that many QBs and interior offensive linemen(both positions of need for Denver) who are first round talents. And the Broncos needed a QB in the worst way, considering that a lot of their QB acquisitions in the post-Peyton Manning era have flopped. Russell brings experience and a winning attitude. Also, of the players the Broncos sent to Seattle in the deal, only Shelby Harris is likely to be missed; he always looked great in Denver Broncos X Hanukkah Just Got Better NFL Hoodie and was solid both as a pass rusher and a tackler. He surely could have insisted on a bigger upfront rake — even if he is coming off a severe injury — because he had three serious suitors.
