I think Kaepernick is not a sharpest knife in the block. It is possible he was feeling a bit insecure about his status, and may have decided to play the political statement card thinking it would make it impossible to get rid of him. Tom Jackson, now more famous as Chris Berman’s partner on NFL Prime Time was the Middle Linebacker (a poor man’s Mike Singletary) and Steve Atwater was the star safety in the early to mid Elway years (a poor man’s Ronnie Lott, but still a stud). Class act (sarcasm) Bill Romanowski was in the mix. The back to Back Super Bowl teams in 1997 and 1998 were surprisingly unmemorable on defense, though fans still proudly wear Denver Broncos Native American Inspired Hoodie from that era.
