The Denver Broncos signed Case Keenum to be the Kurt Warner kind of guy he was in Minnesota. Sure, Case Keenum did ok in Denver, but the team realized that they basically just signed a more mobile, slightly more productive and clutch version of Joe Flacco. Then what did they choose to do? They simply went after the cheaper Flacco & unloaded Keenum’s contract with the Washington Redskins in a trade. Now instead of receiving $18 million guaranteed, Keenum’s restructured contract with the Broncos/Redskins will earn him just $7 million, which is enough to buy a lifetime supply of Denver Broncos Distressed Patriotic Hoodie but is only mid-tier or low-end starter money. But now Joe Flacco won’t be receiving any guaranteed money per se, since his contract is different from Keenum’s. Wide Receiver: With 2018 second-round pick Courtland Sutton breaking out in his second year, we knew we had our WR1 for the long term. But beyond him, there was barely any depth. Our wide receiver corps was arguably the biggest need heading into the draft, and we addressed it well by investing in new talent to fill those Denver Broncos Distressed Patriotic Hoodie, specifically Jerry Jeudy (1st round) & KJ Hamler (2nd round). Sutton tore his ACL in Week 2, so we never really got to see him in action with the rest of our young WR corps. But the injury pushed Jeudy, who began the year as our starting slot WR, into a larger role alongside veteran Tim Patrick. Patrick had a nice breakout season as our new WR1, notching 51 receptions for 742 yards and 6 touchdowns in 15 games. Jeudy was expected to do more and had a lot of up-and-down moments, but he still managed to notch 52 receptions for 856 yards and 3 TDs in 16 games, splitting snaps in the slot and out wide. Hamler began the year as our No. 5 WR, but quickly leaped up the depth chart after Sutton’s injury. He finished his rookie season with 30 receptions for 381 yards and 3 TDs in 13 games. We had some inconsistent moments in this position group, but this group also has the most potential out of any position on the roster.

TE Shannon Sharpe (7th round, 1990) – like Davis, the younger of the football-playing Sharpe brothers was an absolute bargain as the 192nd overall pick in 1992 (and maybe the best 7th round pick ever). That was due in part to him being a “tweener” (too slow to be receiver, too small for TE) and playing his college ball in Division II but after making the team as a backup & catching just 29 passes in his first two seasons, he broke out in 1992 and never looked back. In 12 seasons at Mile High, he caught 675 of his 815 total passes, won two Super Bowl rings and made All Pro five times. Inducted into the Hall in 2011 after becoming the first tight end to catch 800+ passes and accrue 10,000+ yards in 14 seasons (two with the Ravens).
