It’s so so so much more than just being athletic. I mean, American football is objectively more exciting if you have no idea what’s going on than football (soccer) or baseball. There are big hits, incredible throws/passes, running backs going 1v5 in the second level, interceptions/fumbles are pretty easy to intuit, and they score more commonly than in those sports. All of these things are, in a vacuum, exciting. I started getting into football as a kid because of the excitement. I still to this day have no idea what is going on in a soccer game, and have no desire to because it is incredibly boring. There isn’t a lot of easily recognizable action. I know the rules and I still think it’s dull as fuck.
