Yes, the Cleveland Browns have TONS of fans and not just in the Cleveland area. Why is that the case? My guess is that, like the Steelers fans, Browns fans are incredibly loyal. And I have personally never lived in Cleveland (with the exception of staying with my grandparents in Bay Village for 3 months when I was 4 years old) but my father was born and raised in Bay Village (just outside of Cleveland – and I don’t mean to insult real Browns fans but Ravens and Steelers fans may also be reading this post and they may not be familiar with Euclid, Shaker Heights, Parma, Rocky River, or Bay Village). My father went to the 1964 Championship game when the Browns shutout Johnny Unitas and the Colts. He was even alive during the Browns first year when the team went 10–2 (although he was less than a year old). The Browns were good from their founding until the start of the Super Bowl era. My father was a Browns fan because his father was a Browns fan. I am a Browns fan because my father was a Browns fan. And even though all my kids were born in Texas, I am raising them to be loyal wearers of Cleveland Browns Grateful Dead NFL Logo Football Hoodie for generations to come. If they decide to support the Cowboys or Texans, I won’t be happy but I will support them…. If they decide to become Steelers or Ravens fans….. well…. I will still love them. But I am willing to bet that the percentage that remain Tampa Bay fans is probably around 55–60%. Cleveland Browns fans are a rare breed. We support our team, NO MATTER WHAT. When Modell cut Bernie Kosar…. we didn’t defect. When Modell got greedy and tried to move the team without warning, we mobilized to force the NFL to allow us to keep our Browns heritage. We watched our beloved Eric Metcalf, Joshua Cribbs, Earnest Byner, and others play for other teams…. we still woke up. We watched “The Drive” one year only to watch “The Fumble” the next year….. but we still looked forward to the next September. And recently we have watched our front office draft Brady Quinn, Johnny Manziel, Courtney Brown, and Brandon Weeden…. but we still hoped that they knew what they were doing. And then they had the audacity to draft Baker Mayfield?! I will be the first to admit that I screamed at the television, “WHAT THE HELL? I HAVE SEEN THEM DO STUPID THINGS BEFORE BUT THIS IS BEYOND!” I so desperately wanted Josh Allen, who will have a good career. But John Dorsey is a genius! And I am a moron. Thank God I don’t manage the Browns front office. I admit that I have never been more wrong about a football player. Baker Mayfield plays like only one other quarterback I have ever seen: Brett Favre. Baker gets SO EXCITED and has such a sense of humor. In my 42 years, I have never felt this anticipation of what the Browns may do next year. We have been the “poor, lowly” Browns fans for years, but I think our loyalty will be rewarded within the next 3–5 years. Mayfield would not be able to do it on his own, he has a great supporting cast, but he brings an “energy” to our city. My 84 year old father in law, born and raised in Cleveland has been a lifelong fan and because we live in Texas and can’t see many Cleveland Brown games, he frequently buys new Cleveland Browns Grateful Dead NFL Logo Football Hoodie and has to pay $300 a year for the NFL Sunday ticket so he can watch the games.
