I’m a Cincinnati Bengals fan through and through. For the last two years I was in favor of trading Higgins for a position of need or draft picks. Then a friend of mine changed my mind. He said thar we have a player who actually wants to stay in Cincinnati to the point of firing his agent and hiring Chase’s agent. That got me thinking. Not many players in NFL history wanted to wear C.Bengals Puerto Rican Heritage NFL Hoodie as much as Higgins. And he is a premium player. He’d be the best reciever on some teams. Paying two players you drafted who are excellent is a good thing. And it may be the dawn of a new era in Cincinnati with the Brown family paying their players. They also resigned Gesiki, which is huge. He is basically slot reciever. When the Bengals made the SB their defense was much better. But guys like Reader aren’t on free agency this year. The Bengals did mess up in not paying Bates. But I’m OK with having so much money on two recievers. The draft will have to be be dedicated to defense and the lines. This is a rich d line draft. And the TV deals keep going up. In two years Higgins contract may look like a steal. There will be games where the Bengals offense doesn’t click. I am optimistic that the defense can be built back in two years. But in two years they won’t have a chance for the likes of Higgins unless they stink so bad in two years they draft jeremiah smith.
