He had success because of the tools and the novelty. Now, everyone’s wise to it. Look at RG3 in 2012. The differences in how they ran the Read-option are glaring. RG3 had the best fake hand off in the league. Everyone was fooled. I was spoiled watching him and then having to watch Kaep in the playoffs. Kaep was such a bad actor it wasn’t even funny…half the time he faked to the wrong side. (I should note that RG3 was a master of the read-option, but he is not a good pocket QB…he’ll never be a good pocket QB. He doesn’t have the talent for it. He can’t read the Defense properly, doesn’t have the foot work and can’t scramble, but he can run on a designed play like a champ, he just doesn’t have the speed he used to). Losing all the best pieces they had, and getting rid of a quality coach you’re going to have a terrible year.
